Handling a Minor Spill
Put a caution board
Wear a Gloves
Put some absorbent like tissue paper or chemisorb powder
Pour freshly prepared 1% sodium hypochlorite solution without splashing
Allow a contact time of 20 minutes
Wipe up the disinfectant
Throw in the yellow bins
Remove Gloves
Wash hands

Narcotic Drug Policy
Narcotic drugs are stored under double lock and key is held under the custody of separate staff. After administering the drug the responsible Nurse signs the narcotic register. After administering narcotics, leftover quantity is discarded in running water by staff nurse in the presence of incharge Nurse or another Nurse.

1 ampule = 150mg ( 3ml )
Loading Dose : 1 ampule ( 150mg/3 ml) + 12 ml DSW
Amioadrone maintanence dose : 360 mg in 6 hours
360 mg x 3 ml = 7.2 ml

7.2 ml ( amiodarone ) + 42.8 ml D5%w = 50ml = 8.3ml/hr
B. 540mg in 18 hours
540 mg x 3 ml = 10.8 ml

10.8 ml ( amiodarone ) + 39.2 ml D5%W = 2.7ml/hr

Dobutamine Calculation

1 ampule = 250mg/5ml
Amount of drug needed in 50ml solution
Amount of drug = body weight x 3
Example : 70kg x 3 = 210 mg

Amount of drug in ml = 210mgx5ml = 4.2ml
   250mg

Preparation : 45.8 ml NSS + 4.2ml drug = 50ml

Rate of infusion : mcg x body weight x 60 min
                                        Drug concentration

Example : 4mcg x 70kg x 60 = 4ml/hr
                   4200 mcg/ml
