The ammonia blood test is performed to measure the level of ammonia in the blood.
Test Importance :
Ammonia causes toxicity to the brain. It cause coma, confusion, lethargy.
Normal Values :
- 10-47 mcg/dl
Requirements :
3ml of blood sample in EDTA vaccutainer is required for processing serum ammonia blood test.

- serum ammonia.
Abnormal Values Due to :
- Heart failure
- Low potassium levels
- Hyperthermia
- Liver failure
