Crohn’s Disease
Definition :
Crohn’s disease is an inflammation of the bowel. It belongs to a group of conditions known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease ( IBD ). It is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract.
It most commonly affecting the end of the small bowel (terminal ileum), jejunum, or begining of the colon and resulting in skip lesions ( Normal bowel followed by diseased bowel ).

Signs and Symptoms :
- Abdominal pain and cramps
- Persistent Diarrhea
- Rectal bleeding
- Urgency of bowel
- Sensation of incomplete evacuation
- Constipation ( Leads to bowel obstruction )
General Sypmtoms :
- Weight loss
- Fever
- Fatigue
- Night sweats
- Loss of appetite
- Loss of normal menstrual cycle
Causes of Crohn's Disease :
- Diet
- Stress
- Hereditary
- Genetics
- Environmental factors
Dietary Management :
The
diet of choice is for Crohn’s disease is
low residue diet.
- Meat ( Baked Chicken)
- Cooked Vegetables ( Mashed Potatoes )
The
diet should avoided for the Crohn’s disease is
- Raw fruits ( Except banana )
- Vegetables
- Seeds
- Whole grains
